Hiking and climbing in New South Wales

In July 2007 I was lucky enough to be sent by my company to an exhibition in Sydney Australia. While I was there I took seven
days of vacation. I went hiking and solo top rope climbing in the Blue Mountains as I had not found a climbing partner for my visit
to the Blueys. Then I headed down to Nowra and met up with Dave and his girlfriend Jenny for three days of sports climbing.

Nice view from Mount Boyce up in the Blue Mountains.

This is Mount Boyce. I did some solo top roping as I had not found a climbing partner for my visit to the Blueys.

Nice view in the Blue Mountains.

A nice hiking trail along a canyon called 'The Grand Canyon'.

A little detour from the 'Grand Canyon' hiking trail.

Inside the 'Grand Canyon'. It was a very nice canyon but the name is not very fitting if you have been to the Grand Canyon in Arizona.

More canyons in the making.

The Three Sisters.

In Nowra I met up with Dave for three days of sports climbing.

Dave on a tough overhanging traverse in Nowra.

This route was way to hard for me to even think of trying.

A different view of Dave on the same route. He did it a number of times.

Jenny getting ready to go.

She climbed with style.

No grunting like me.

I don't think she even broke out a sweat.

My turn. The tip I got was 'If you're not on a jug, you're off route'.

Here we go.

It's nice with pre-placed quickdraws.

Getting heavy here...

The only rest point I could actually rest a bit on.

Jenny on a spooky start.

Just past the crux.

Unknown climber on a nice route.

Different unknown climber, same route.

A very good route for photography.

Fun's over. Changing flights in Hong Kong on my way home.
